Please watch the video and follow the three simple steps below.
Step One
Please read 20 Tips for Sharing Your Testimony
1. How All Testimonies Begin and End
-
Every testimony at I Am A Witness begins like this: "My name is (your name) and I Am A Witness." Then you give your testimony.
-
Every testimony at I Am A Witness ends like this: "My name is (your name) and I Am A Witness to God's (transformative power, love, mercy, goodness, whatever you've WITNESSED)."
2. Pray First
-
Ask God to guide your words and to use your story for His glory.
3. Theological Inaccuracies
-
Be cautious about making claims about God or the Bible that aren’t scripturally sound. Stay rooted in biblical truth.
4. Keep it Focused - Before, During, and After
-
Highlight your life before Jesus, how you encountered Him, and the transformation you’ve experienced after accepting Him.
5. Relate to Your Audience
-
Tailor your testimony to connect with those who may be going through similar struggles or seeking answers.
6. Point to Jesus
-
Emphasize His role in your story, making Him the hero, not yourself.
7. Be Concise
-
Aim for clarity and brevity, keeping your testimony engaging and easy to follow.
8. Share Scripture
-
Use Bible verses that are meaningful to your story to underscore God’s truth.
9. Avoid Divisive Topics
-
Steer clear of polarizing subjects like politics or controversies that may distract from the message of Jesus.
10. Avoid Over Detailing
-
Share enough to be impactful without getting bogged down in unnecessary details.
11. Practice and Prepare
-
Practice and Prepare: Rehearse your testimony to feel confident but remain open to the Holy Spirit’s leading.
12. Glorify Christ, Not Your Past
-
Avoid glorifying your sin or past life; instead, focus on how Jesus has redeemed and transformed you.
13. Use Wholesome Language
-
Don’t undermine your testimony with foul language, obscenities, or overly graphic details. Keep your words honoring to God and edifying for your audience.
14. Avoid Slander and Incrimination
-
Details are important, but avoid slandering or incriminating others. Instead, focus on how God carried you through the situation without assigning blame or naming specific individuals.
15. Avoid Being Judgmental
-
Avoid pointing fingers or condemning others, even if their actions hurt you. Focus on how God delivered you through that situation.
16. Avoid Over Focus on Yourself
-
While sharing your story, keep the focus on what God has done, not just on your struggles or accomplishments.
17. Avoid Performative Speaking
-
Avoid treating your testimony as a performance. Stay genuine and allow the Holy Spirit to guide your words.
18. Disrespecting Privacy
-
Avoid sharing private or sensitive details about other people without their consent, even if it’s part of your story.
19. Don't Forget the Gospel
-
Don’t focus solely on your past or personal transformation without pointing people to Jesus, the Gospel, and the hope of salvation.
20. End With Hope
-
Leave your audience with encouragement and an invitation to experience God’s love and grace.
