Anxiety is something we all face at different points in life—whether it's stress about the future, fear of the unknown, or the weight of daily pressures. But God’s Word speaks directly to our hearts in these moments. The Bible is full of encouragement, promises of peace, and reminders that God is near to the brokenhearted. If you're feeling anxious, here are 10 Bible verses to help you fix your eyes on the One who brings true peace.
Philippians 4:6–7 (NIV)
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
This verse is one of the most powerful promises in Scripture about anxiety. When we bring our worries to God in prayer, He replaces them with peace.
1 Peter 5:7 (NIV)
"Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you."
God doesn’t just tolerate your worries—He invites you to give them to Him. He genuinely cares about every detail of your life.
Matthew 6:25-34
"Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these."
Jesus reminds us to stay present. Worrying about the future robs us of the peace available today.
Isaiah 41:10 (NIV)
"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
You are not alone. God promises to strengthen and uphold you no matter what you face.
Psalm 94:19 (NIV)
"When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy."
Even in the thick of anxiety, God brings comfort that can lift our spirits.
John 14:27 (NIV)
"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."
The peace Jesus offers is unlike anything the world can provide—it's deep, lasting, and supernatural.
Proverbs 12:25 (NIV)
"Anxiety weighs down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up."
This verse reminds us of the emotional weight anxiety carries—and the power of encouragement from others.
Psalm 23:4 (NIV)
"Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me."
God walks with us in our darkest moments. His presence is our comfort.
Joshua 1:9 (NIV)
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."
When anxiety tempts us to shrink back, God reminds us to be strong—because He goes before us.
Romans 8:38–39 (NIV)
"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future... will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
No matter what we face—even our anxious thoughts—God’s love is constant and unshakable.
